This Sunday, October 27, we went to the Howl-O-Ween parade at our favorite Sir William doggy run in Fort Tryon Park. This is our favorite doggy run in New York City, and we come there almost every weekend to run around, roll in dirt and socialize with other doggies.
This time, even though we did not participate in the parade, we went there dressed as characters from our favorite Sesame Street show. Lulu was a Big Bird, and Lilly was Elmo. Our mission was to check out contestant’s costumes, support the Double Gate fundraising project , and spread the word about Little L's and krakems.
The parade turned out to be a success! There were dozens of doggies competing in three major categories: “homemade costumes”, “store bought costumes”, and “doggy and owner combo”. Both jury and audiences casted their votes, and at the end, the best costumes won the prizes. Our favorite ones were Bride and Groom, and Marge Simpson! Next year we will definitely take part in the contest!
After the parade, we mingled with other doggies and their parents, and gave out free samples of our chicken krak’ems. Some doggies loved them so much that they begged for more, and one doggy (named Jack) even snatched the bag full of samples from our daddy’s hands so we all had to run after him in order to get it back. Of course, Jack was still able to get away with two krak’ems in his mouth. There was a lot of crunching and munching, and in less than an hour, our pumpkin buckets were almost empty!
On our way back home, we stopped by the Critter Outfitter boutique on Pinehurst avenue, and (despite Lulu’s protests) left the remaining krakems there, too. The owner, Valerie, has invited us to another awesome doggy party that will be held this Thursday.
Overall, the Howl-O-Ween parade was a great success! We would like to thank the Fort Tryon Dog Owner Group and all sponsors for organizing this wonderful event! Woof!
